Who Were Adam And Eve in The Bible?
Creation of Adam And Eve
The first human beings in the world were named Adam and Eve. Both of them are first created by God as a couple. And the dust of the earth was taken to create them. His image was made, then God breathed his spirit into it, making them alive. His birth is mentioned in detail in the Bible. God’s creation of Adam and Eve shows the early existence of humanity and also shows that man and woman were created by God as partners. From Adam and Eve the generation continued and the population of the world increased.
Verse
“Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” (Genesis 2:7)
Verse
“So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.” (Genesis 2:21-22)
Life in The Garden of Eden
After the creation of Adam and Eve, God gave them a place to live in paradise. There were many decorations and blessings in heaven. Adam and Eve lived happily there. There were all kinds of trees, fruits and greenery. Adam and Eve ate whatever they wanted. There was a garden in paradise called Eden, Adam and Eve used to live there. But God put a thing to test them and said that there is a tree, you people should not go near it, eat and drink from wherever you want and have fun.
Verse
“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” (Genesis 2:15-17)
Satan’s Deception
Eve and Adam ate all kinds of fruits but did not go near the tree that God had forbidden them to go to. Once Satan came in the form of a snake and started seducing Eve. He fabricated the lie that if she would go to that tree and eat its fruit, she would gain knowledge of the unseen like God and never die. Eve said that God had said that never go near it, if we eat its fruit, we will die. Satan said, “No, it is not like that. God has lied to you. If you eat its fruit, you will never die and you will become powerful. Knowledge of the unseen will be obtained.” In this way, Satan seduced Eve and Adam and they disobeyed God.
Verse
“Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.” (Genesis 3:7-8)
The Consequence of Sin
God had forbidden going to the fruit of good and evil, but both of them ate its fruit under the temptation of Satan. After eating, they realized that they had no clothes on their bodies, they were naked, so they quickly cut fig leaves and put them on to hide their bodies. God was very angry with them that despite the prohibition of God, they had eaten the fruit of this tree. God sent them to the world to punish them and said that both of you will continue to suffer for the rest of your life. He punished Eve that she would suffer the pain of childbearing and that Adam would labor to produce on the earth, suffering because the earth was cursed because of their actions.
Adam And Eve’s Offspring
After being expelled from paradise, Adam and Eve lived on earth and had children. From here, human settlement began. First, Eve gave birth to Abel and Cain. The story of both of them is very famous. Both Abel and Cain were brothers but they were very jealous. They were killed because of this jealousy and it became the first murder in the world.
Verse
“Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, “With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man.” Later she gave birth to his brother Abel.” (Genesis 4:1-2)
The Legacy of Adam And Eve
The story of Adam and Eve tells how mankind began to sin. At the same time, it is also an indication of how salvation was obtained from these sins. If we read the Bible, we know that the sin of Adam and Eve was a real sin, it spread sin in humanity. But Sins were expelled away by the coming of Jesus Christ. Just as sin and death came into the world from Adam and Eve, in the same way, with the death of Jesus Christ, sins went away and the way of salvation was opened.
Verse
“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law. Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.” (Romans 5:12-14)
Expulsion From Eden
First, God kept Adam and Eve with all the comforts without any effort, but due to their mistake, He sent them to the earth and expelled them from Paradise so that they could go to the world and work hard. Another thing is inferred from this that our difficulties are caused by our own mistakes, while our God never wants to put us in difficulties.
Verse
“So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.” (Genesis 3:23-24)
Adam And Eve’s Relationship With God
It is an honor to live in the closeness of God and this honor was enjoyed by Adam and Eve. They used to talk to God every day and live with God, but when they were tempted by Satan and did not obey God’s orders, and then God punished them. He was expelled from heaven and sent to earth. This also gives us a lesson that if we make mistakes or sins, then our God will be away from us. Therefore, to maintain our relationship with God, mistakes and sins should be avoided. And we should keep asking forgiveness from God for our sins.
Verse
“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:8-10)
The Family of Adam And Eve
One mistake by Adam and Eve changed many things. The comforts are over and the time has come for them to work hard. In addition, when they came into the world, she gave birth to children with labor and firstly they had two sons, one was named Cain and the other was named Abel. And both of them also sinned. They have been killed out of jealousy. Similarly, due to one mistake of Adam and Eve, many sins were born.
Verse
Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.” (Genesis 4:8)
Further Offspring of Adam And Eve
After the mistake of Adam and Eve, their sons Abel and Cain also sinned. But after that, Adam and Eve had more children. They had a third son named Sheth. He was very pious. From this began a righteous generation that was faithful to God. Adam lived for 930 years after which he died.
Verse
“After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.” (Genesis 5:4)
