David is also called the second king. He was a very important personality and he has a lot of importance in different religions. His name is taken with great honor and respect. David was the son of Judah and was born among the Israelites. He worked as a shepherd in the beginning. His father Judah belonged to the family of Jesse. God gave David a very high position. Battle of David With Goliath
David had a lot of faith in God; besides, he was a very brave and strong person. Once there was a war between the Israelites and the Palestinian soldiers. There was a leader of the Palestinian army, he was very powerful. His name was Goliath, he was challenging the Israelites. David decided to defeat him, so he killed Goliath without any weapon. Start up of David’s Kingship
When David defeated Goliath, gossip of his bravery began to spread far and wide. In this way, David began to get a lot of fame, and at the same time, he became very famous in the court of King Saul. God gave him the news through Samuel that he would become the king there after Saul. When Saul died, then a king had to be appointed, so he was appointed as King David. In the same way, he was called the second king of Israelites.

Unity of The Israel’s Tribe
David was very intelligent. He got the king’s seat and he fully deserved it. He knew how to rule and gather the people. David accomplished a feat. He brought together the 12 tribes of Israelites, who were always fighting among themselves, under his leadership and there developed unity among them. This was a great achievement of David’s reign, which made the tribes of Israel a united and unified nation.

“All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, “We are your own flesh and blood. In the past, while Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel on their military campaigns. And the Lord said to you, ‘You will shepherd my people Israel, and you will become their ruler.” When all the elders of Israel had come to King David at Hebron, the king made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.” (2 Samuel 5:1-3)
Jerusalem as The Capital
David (peace be upon him) knew how to rule, he made a great decision. He thought that if we make Jerusalem our capital, it will be of great benefit to us. He did so by making Jerusalem the capital of the Israelites. A very strong government was born there.

“The king and his men marched to Jerusalem to attack the Jebusites, who lived there. The Jebusites said to David, “You will not get in here; even the blind and the lame can ward you off.” They thought, “David cannot get in here.” Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion—which is the City of David. On that day David had said, “Anyone who conquers the Jebusites will have to use the water shaft to reach those ‘lame and blind’ who are David’s enemies.” That is why they say, “The ‘blind and lame’ will not enter the palace.” David then took up residence in the fortress and called it the City of David. He built up the area around it, from the terraces inward.” (2 Samuel 5:6-9)
Returning Back the Ark of The Covenant
The Ark of the Covenant was very special to the Israelites because it contained the signs of God’s covenant. It contained many prophetic signs, including Plaques of commandments, Aaron‘s staff, etc. It was an ark made of cedar wood and worked with pure gold, with two angels in its design. David (peace be upon him) took the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem to protect it there because it was of great importance to the Israelites, and upon its return there was a wave of joy among the Israelites.

“Now King David was told, “The Lord has blessed the household of Obed-Edom and everything he has, because of the ark of God.” So David went to bring up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with rejoicing. When those who were carrying the ark of the Lord had taken six steps, he sacrificed a bull and a fattened calf. Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets.” (2 Samuel 6:12-15)
Sin And Repentance of David
David committed a sin as a human requirement. He liked a woman whose name was Bathsheba, she was very beautiful and David fell in love with her. Bathsheba was a married woman, so in order to get her; David killed her husband so that he could marry her. They committed a sin, and then after someone explained to David, he realized that he had committed a great sin and then asked God for forgiveness for his sin and God forgave him. Death of David
David lived his whole life in many achievements and was 70 years old when he died. His son named Solomon took over the kingdom after David’s death. Solomon also prospered like his father David. Due to the many achievements of David, he is still remembered in the history of Israelites and his name is taken with great honor.

“Then David rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David. He had reigned forty years over Israel—seven years in Hebron and thirty-three in Jerusalem. So Solomon sat on the throne of his father David, and his rule was firmly established.” (1 Kings 2:10-12)
