Engagement of Joseph With Mary
Joseph was engaged to Mary and after this engagement Joseph came to know that Mary was going to become a mother. He was quite surprised by this. He thought that he would secretly leave Mary to preserve her honor. An angel appeared in Joseph’s dream. He told that the child in Mary’s womb was for humanity, he would come to the world as a savior. And he was born with the help of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, do not end the relationship with Mary, keep the engagement with her. This is what God has commanded you. On which Joseph submitted.

“This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. Joseph’s Journey With Mary And Jesus
Joseph took Mary to Bethlehem for the birth of Jesus. Jesus was born there. But the political environment there was very bad. When King Herod found out that Jesus was born and how he was born, he asked to kill Jesus. Again, the angel told Joseph. He warned him in a dream and told him to go to Egypt to save Jesus’ life. Joseph did just that, he took Jesus to Egypt to escape the persecution of King Herod and they stayed in Egypt until the king died.

Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. When the king died, the angel again told him in a dream to go back to Nazareth and stay there. Joseph took Mary and Jesus and settled in Nazareth. He proved to be a very responsible father.

Joseph was a very fair, honest person. When he came to know that Mary was going to become a mother before marriage, he wanted to leave her honorably, taking care of her honor. But the angel told him everything in his dream and also told him to marry Mary. Joseph got married and fulfilled his duty very well. He fed his family by working hard. This shows how good and humble Joseph was. He is presented as an ideal person in the Bible.
