Noah: God’s Prophet Who Built The Ark
Do you know that Noah is a person who is believed to be a universal prophet?
Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and all other religions also have stories about Noah’s Ark and the flood. They all believe in Noah that a man named Noah built an ark and saved humanity from a great storm. That is why Noah is considered a universal prophet.
Introduction
One of God’s prophets was named Noah. Noah was the man who built the ark because God was sending a storm for disobedient people. Therefore, he ordered Noah to build an ark and collect the animals and righteous people in it. After that, the flood will come and it will fall down on the sinners in the form of punishment. Noah obeyed God’s command. Noah was a very pious person who spent his long life in showing the straight path to people.
Verse
“But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.” (Genesis 6:8-9)
Verse
“So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high. Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit high all around. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks.” (Genesis 6:14-16)
Ark Building by Noah
God has created this world so that people in the world can worship God. But the people living on the earth started disobeying God and doing evil deeds. In this situation, God thought to destroy these people. God chose Noah for this task. God told him that I am sending a storm on the sinful people. Therefore, build an ark and gather your family members, righteous people and pairs of animals in it. So that Life can be restarted after the storm. Noah did the same and built a three storied ark. This shows that Noah was a very obedient man.
Verse
“I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you.” (Genesis 6:17-18)
Verse
“You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive.” (Genesis 6:19-20)
A Flood That Persist for Forty Days
The flood that came in the time of Noah was very big. It covered the whole earth and big mountains disappeared in it. Even the storm was touching the heights of the sky. All the people in the whole world were destroyed. Only those who were in the boat were safe. This storm was very big and dangerous, which lasted for 40 days. 40 days later, the storm waters receded and Noah’s ark started its journey towards the land.
Verse
“And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.” (Genesis 7:12)
Verse
“Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark. The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.” (Genesis 7:23-24)
Promise of God With Noah
When a rainbow is formed after rain, it is very beautiful to see. The rainbow is also considered a symbol of love. When God sent the punishment on Noah’s people, after the punishment, he promised Noah that such a storm would not come again. Noah and his family thanked God that such a dangerous punishment would not happen again. God made a rainbow in the sky, which was a proof that God does not forget His promises and loves righteous people.
Verse
“I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:” (Genesis 9:11-12)
Verse
“I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.” (Genesis 9:13)
Legacy of Noah
Noah was the person who repopulated the world. He had three sons. One was named Sam, the other was Ham, and the third was Japheth. God increased the population of the world through them and spread them to different parts of the world. After getting off the ark, the world was settled in a new way without bad people.
Verse
“The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.) These were the three sons of Noah, and from them came the people who were scattered over the whole earth.” (Genesis 9:18-19)
Verse
