Philip Who Was Disciple of Jesus

Incident of Feeding Five Thousand People
Philip quickly believed in Jesus and came to faith. But he still had some doubts in his mind. Because when they had to feed the five thousand people, they had some loaves and fishes. Jesus asked Philip to test him, “Are we going to feed the five thousand people?” If you will feed, how will you feed? Philip expressed surprise at this and said that even two hundred dinars of bread would not be enough for them. But Jesus miraculously fed them all with some loaves and fishes. This shows that nothing was impossible for Jesus and it took Philip a while to understand this.

When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” (John 6:5-7)

Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. (John 6:10-11)

Once, Jesus was sitting among his disciples. Jesus’ disciples were talking with him when Philip made a wish. He said, “Can I see God?” Jesus (peace be upon him) smiled at his words and said, “You have not seen me.” Philip then understood what Jesus was trying to convey.
